PHILIPPINE Airlines on Thursday filed a motion to dismiss the notice of strike of the Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association before the Department of Labor and Employment.
Thursday’s conciliation meeting between PAL management and Palea collapsed anew as the two parties still failed to agree on a resolution to their labor dispute.
“Management’s move for the dismissal of notice of strike are based on the DoLE’s earlier ruling on the NOS filed by Palea on Nov. 5 and June 15, 2010,” PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.
She said the move by Palea in filing a second Notice of Strike was a union strategy to delay implementation of the flag carrier’s spin-off program that had already been recognized by the DoLE as a valid and legal exercise of management prerogative.
“Until the DoLE resolve the (notice) filed by Palea, any strike by the union workers would be considered illegal,” Villaluna said. Vito Barcelo
